Whispered interpreting
Whispered interpreting is a good option if there are only one or two people who need the help of an interpreter. This setup does not require any technical equipment at all. Instead, the interpreter sits behind or between the target audience and whispers the interpretation of what is being said. With some types of event, this method is felt to be the most comfortable arrangement for the audience, as they are directly involved in what is going on and are able to contribute more freely to the discussion, without the hindrance of headphones. However, during events in which the audience takes on a more passive, listening role, the constant quiet whispering of the interpreter can also be perceived as an annoyance by people in the close vicinity. In these cases we recommend using a portable interpreting system or an interpreting booth.
